Attorney General Governmental Code 552.101 Prohibits governmental entities from compiling or summarizing an individual’s arrests, suspect listings, and criminal defendant information. This information takes on a character that implicates the individual’s right of privacy. You cannot simply request ALL information concerning a certain individual.

Arrest Reports ARE public record. In order to request an arrest report on an individual, you must specifically request the report, (ie. Name, arrest charge type, date, or arrest location). This request is made as an Open Records Request.

A Mount Pleasant Police Department Background Check is a certified letter and all unredacted arrest reports on file or a Clearance Letter stating you have no arrests on file. A Background Check is limited to information in local MPPD records. It does NOT include information in other locations in Texas or in the U.S.

A Background Check can be requested on yourself in person at the Mount Pleasant Police Department. You will need your valid government issued identification. This includes state issued Driver’s License or ID, Passport, MX ID, or MX/US Employment ID. There is a $5.00 fee.

A Background Check can be requested by mail. In order to make the request by mail, you will need to download the Background Request Form below. Mail the notarized Background Request Form, a copy of your valid government issued identification, and $5.00 Check or Money order to the Mount Pleasant Police Department, Attn: Police Records, 501 N Madison Ave, Mount Pleasant, TX 75455.
